THE SDA HOUSING PODCAST
Episode 56 - "Respite Accomodation" aka STA
EPISODE:
Rob from Plan 4 Life Australia, joins Minh from NDIS PROPERTY AUSTRALIA, and discusses Short Term Accommodation, also known as STA, or Respite Accommodation. They talk about how this similar investment opportunity could be a fantastic choice, as a backup to the SDA strategy, as an alternative accommodation for participants looking for a short term solution.
Short Term Accommodation – or Respite Accommodation – or "Staycation" - provides support and accommodation for a trip away. These trips can be from one day up to a fortnight. It allows for Participants, or even family members, or carers separately, and away from Participants, to have a short break or change of scenery. It allows participants to have regular holidays like everyone else does, but without the stress of finding accommodation that can meet their needs.
Participants who qualify, would already have some amount of funding already allocated to such benefits, for Short Term Accomodation. If they dont, they can tap into the 'Core Funding' to utilise their annual funding to use for STA.
People who should contact Rob Maxwell to talk about STA should be:
- if you have a property that is empty
- if you have an SDA home for sale, and cannot sell it
- if you have an empty SDA home, and cannot fill it
- if you are currently building an SDA in a lifestyle location
- if you would like to explore a property which is not SDA compliant, and would like to modify it with minor renovations to convert it to STA use
