"The SDA HOUSING Podcast" is brought to you by the team at NDIS PROPERTY AUSTRALIA. Whether you are listening as an Investor, Provider, Builder, Developer or Participant, we cover a wide range of topics informative to any audience. We discuss how we work with all stakeholders in sourcing and delivering new dwellings which are SDA compliant, to general information about the NDIS, and statistics about Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) in the NDIS sector. We regularly have guest speakers each week from other organisations to talk about their involvement in the SDA sector, and how they contribute to the social impact of SDA, building homes that are fit-for-purpose, while giving NDIS participants the "Choice and Control" over how, where and with whom they live. EPISODE 258 - NDIS Media Release: Provider Registration
In this episode, Minh and Debbie discuss the media release of 16th September from Bill Shorten MP, Minister for the NDIS regarding the mandatory requirement for Platform Providers, Support Coordinators and SIL Providers to be registered.
They look at the media release itself along with comments from industry professionals regarding the impact of this implementation.
Whilst the new registration model is not directly related to SDA, SIL Providers are an inherent part of an SDA Participant's life so there is an important connection. We welcome the requirement for SIL providers to be registered, however, it will be interesting to see how the NDIA plans to implement this requirement given the significant cost and long time frames currently being experienced for providers wishing to become registered with the NDIA.
